Best thing to do first is to check http://polaris.mecklenburgcountync.gov/website/redesign/viewer.htm
Which will allow you to see the basic outline&easements on your property. I will warn you though, that this can be a little "off" but will tell you generally what is there.
Your best bet is to contact a licensed surveyor to assist you. Or if you bought your home in the last few years, there also might be a survey on file for the closing of your home that would indicate these things.
