Paulson received an $18.7 million cash bonus for the first half of 2006, and in 2005 he was the highest paid chief executive officer on Wall Street, reaping $38.3 million in salary, stock and options. He had also accumulated 3.23 million shares of Goldman's common stock worth $492 million, plus restricted shares worth $75.2 million and options to purchase 680,474 shares, according to a Goldman regulatory filing on July 2, 2006.

I think Paulson should dig up that money and apply it to the current housing crisis!!

If I allow a company to be run into the ground and get fired, I walk away with a compensation package that is worth more than most of us will earn in a lifetime. My only question is where do I sign up??

It needs to be regulated especially in the industries that are being propped up by the government. I think once the smoke has cleared they ought to also investigate the sale of stock options by executives that sold their options in 2005 and 2006 before the nosedive started.

Based on their own personnel wealth, it seems Paulson and Ben are out of touch in the attempted explanation of the Rescue Plan; people are resisting it because they are interpreting it as just the bailing out of the bad-bad that do not deserve it... however if it is not passed it would appear that the house of cards will come down on all of us...not just the shifty banks and wall street big wigs...potentially economic life as we know it will be over... for most no more car loans, no more school loans, mortgages etc. Seems to me that they should emphasize the broad negative potential here and maybe offer a tax refund down the road for all of us; they should sell this plan with a little more of a pedestrian approach

Bernanke has no personal wealth that I am aware of: I think he was primarily an academic.
