Personal use of a house: can I allow my adult daughter to live in it without paying rent?My daughter with 3 children is on welfare, makes $ minimum wage, cannot afford rent. I bought a house for personal use for her to live in...it is not intended as rental property, I will never rent it, and when her children are grown in a few years, she will move out and will sell the house, I will never make a profit on it. I do not deduct any expenses on my income taxes of any kind, including depreciation or interest, nor do I declare any profits, as I receive nothing. Can I declare the property as "personal use"?June 12 2014 - Dayton00YesReport a ProblemProblemSelect oneOffensive contentIrrelevant contentSpam (pure self-promotion)OtherDetailsYour emailPlease enter a valid email address.Submit CancelContent flaggedWe will review this content.
