Pick up the Beef on Friday! -seriously

Profile picture for ConnieK_Oklahoma

after you are all done with your shopping friday morning, if you make a trip to the grocery store you will see it is a bit like a ghost town, employees are working to re-stock shelves and recover from today which was typically the stores's busiest selling day of the year.    If you make the trip, head over to the meat section.   You will typically find great sales on cuts of beef and pork because they need to move them quickly.  Every year, I had to the grocery store just to do this and I frequently get t-bones, NY strip and other cuts of beef at HALF their normal price.  Take them home to deep freeze and enjoy throughout the year.

That's a great tip! I had never thought of that before, but it makes sense. Buy beef when everyone else is still eating turkey leftovers. I love to BBQ and the turkey will keep so maybe I will try a new recipe on the grill to herald the coming holiday season.

I really discovered this by accident a few years ago.  younger brother-in-law  had a girlfriend allergic to turkey - they were coming down on saturday for Thanksgiving with us - I was the host.   So we planned a rib dinner.   - meat section was like a gold mine and there was NO one in the grocery store on black friday.  except employees trying to return the store to a normal looking place.

On a similar vein, but different tack...

Magic Mountain is relatively empty on Mother's day.

Great tip.  I will go today and surprise my family with a special meal tonight!  I would never have thought of it.
