Yes, someone who is not a US citizen can purchase real estate.
As long as taxes are paid on time every year, the property is maintained, and no illegal activities occur on the property, there should be no reason for you to lose the property.
For assistance, please contact a realtor in the area you wish to purchase.

I would think you would at least need to have an ITIN for tax purposes if you wanted to buy here. You could contact a local escrow company to be sure.

Most areas have very few limitations on who can buy as long as they actually send the money!
But, one must also pay the taxes and pay for the upkeep, and the utilites. Of course this can be contracted from outside the country, but you better have someone you trust overseeing the maintenance or you may lose your investment. And if you miss paying the property tax??? Your property would be foreclosed to obtain the money for the tax and sold out from under you.
Buying property is only useful if you have a use for it. As with any investment, one really needs to run the numbers first.

The short answer is yes, you could buy land and would not have to visit.
The long answer involves financial questions because the requirements would be more stringent.

Please, can an italian (without US citizenship) buy land in the States?
In case he does not use that land for years, may loose the ownership?
Where I can find the laws on buying and ownership of land in the States?
Many thanks, Giovanni Della Lanza
