Pre-foreclosures on Zillow - MassachusettsI get a lot of requests from Buyers on Zillow about pre-foreclosure listings and they want to see these houses. These houses are NOT for sale. They are showing up as pre-foreclosure because a complaint was recorded with the registry of Deeds which is public record. The homeowner could still reinstate the mortgage by paying it current, they could file bankruptcy or it could go into foreclosure. Just because it shows up in Zillow doesn't make it for sale. This is a consumer website, not a brokerage and the info contained here is strictly from public record not the Multiple Listing Service ("MLS"). This is an attempt to keep people on Zillow instead of going to other websites that display info. that is public record and people are paying for the service, BUT THE HOUSES ARE STILL NOT FOR SALE, whether its on this website or another. Homes in pre-forclosure could be over 2 years away from being foreclosed upon or coming on to the market to be for sale to the general public. Hopefully this helps a few buyers out there as there is such limited inventory already and buyers are getting false hope thinking these homes are actually for sale and they've tapped into an outlet that has inventory of homes that are cheap and not listed elsewhere - because they aren't for sale! Imagine walking up to that persons house, knocking on the door and saying "Hey, I heard you're in foreclosure" - I'm sure the reception you get would be extremely icy!April 18 2014 - Mansfield22YesReport a ProblemProblemSelect oneOffensive contentIrrelevant contentSpam (pure self-promotion)OtherDetailsYour emailPlease enter a valid email address.Submit CancelContent flaggedWe will review this content.
