I am shopping for a title agent in Baltimore, and one of my prospects told me this:
"The recordation taxes and transfer taxes on the seller's side are exactly half according to the purchase price, however as a first time home buyer you do not pay your half of the state transfer tax and the city gives a credit to the buyer for occupying the property."

Is this true? I can't find anything like this online that I would qualify for.

The easy answer as far as your tax being waived as a first time homebuyer in MD is yes. Finding it in writing proves a bit tougher. However, the MD state website instructs you to direct your questions to the clerk of the court in the jurisdiction you wish to purchase your home.
This link, http://www.mdcourts.gov/circuit/directory.html , will allow you to identify the clerks of the court for every county in MD. I hope that helps you! Jim
