Provided bad roof inspection during buying processe

During my home buying process we required the sellers to get a inspection done on the roof. The inspection was done and the roof was given a 100% approval with no issues.
I began to doubt the validity of the inspection and had another roofing company come do an inspection which noted many problems and that the roof needs to be replaced.

Is there any avenues to pursue to address the bad roof inspection that was given to us during the buying process? I wouldn't have purchased the house at this price if I received the accurate roof inspection first.

Home inspectors are only liable for the home inspection fee.  It is clearly stated in the home inspection report.  Sorry to hear that your home inspector dropped the ball.

All inspections are the buyer's responsibility.    Unfortunately it appears you learned why.

I agree, you should have gotten your own inspection. Condition of a roof is often somewhat subjective. The roofer you spoke with that said it needed this and that could be the one that is incorrect and the first one might be correct. Who knows? I would ask a third to give an estimate and don't tell them about the others at all and see what they say.

To be realistic, you should have gotten the roof inspection yourself prior to the purchase to know that the vendor of YOUR choice made the assessment.  But in this instance, it sounds as if you may have some recourse by approaching the vendor who certified the inspection as there may be some liability for their misrepresentation.  I'm assuming you got an invoice for the inspection specifying what type of inspection was done and what condition the roof was in?
