Qualifying after time off for school

Profile picture for user362665
Hi,

I was employed by a company for 2 years, and then I went to grad school full time for 18 months. I've rejoined the workforce (been about 2 months), and am interested in applying.

Would my 18 month gap in income disqualify me? Also, would I be able to count the bonuses that were paid to me 2 years ago (I don't get paid a bonus for my new job until next Jan).

Apart from the gap, I have excellent credit, a decent downpayment (15-20%), and can provide proof that I left my job voluntarily and proof of enrollment in school.

Thanks for any advice

Your time is school will count for the previous 2 years employment. You will list your 2 year employment history with your current position, your grad school, and the employer prior to grad school. You will not need to explain too much. Just showing your grad school transcript should be sufficient.

You will be qualified on your current salary only. Bonuses from two years ago with a different employer will not be considers.

Being in NY, I would suggest contacting Chris   www.zillow.com/profile/Chris-Corica/

I suggest that you make an appointment to talk to a loan officer at a local bank to obtain the answer you need.
