Zillow has no plans to offer appraisals. However, we are planning to build functionality that will help do a better job of helping consumers find real estate professionals of all types (home inspectors, appraisers, attorneys, etc) this year.
OMG.. you didn't just ask them to do that!!!! We are doomed.
I believe it is a natural for Zillow to be the front end of a "comp check" for value. However, lenders will not accept Zillow values for lending purposes. Lenders are rescinding home equity loans because of declining markets. To challenge that, an appraisal is necessary.

I like your Mortgage Market Place idea. People need real appraisals for personal reasons, not just mortgage lending. Is it possible for Zillow to offer real appraisal services?
