The best way to determine the best agent to work with is to ask for their credentials (what they've sold, designations, etc.) and then meet with them to see how you'd like to work with them. You want someone very capable who you feel comfortable wroking with.

@Teia - It's Marc. As you said, we use the data provided by agents. While sales history is one component of the AgentRank algorithm, it's not the only data source. AgentRank uses experience, client feedback, and market forecasts to name a few. The data provided by agents is surprisingly accurate. However, if you identify something fraudulent, you can flag an agent's profile for review.
@TrugmanTeam - view agent credentials and connect with agents in their area.
@pwildcon - Our agent database is not comprehensive and we don't claim it to be. However, we are moving in that direction. Maybe you'll consider upgrading us from 'crap' to 'mildly useful' at that time. Thanks!

Agent Ranking is a difficult task.
Here is a thoughtful blog post by Kristal Kraft with a full set of comments on the pitfalls of agent evaluation

pwildcon- it wouldn't hurt to be the first agent on your zip code to be on the site, it is a lot of informtaion to log in, but one person buying a house from you off the site makes it worth it.

Teia,
I'm going to check those out now and thanks for the heads up.
My $.02 - Experience and solds and designations are all fine and dandy but trust would be my main concern, second would service and third are they just in it for only the money? If my potential clients don't fall in love with me by the time we are talking about how long we will be doing the listing for I give them the try me approach. I give them the option to list it for 30 days, if you don't the job, don't extend it.

Contributions:205I read in the newspaper this weekend that there are web sites that rank Real Estate agents online! I logged on to see what I was ranked. Well, they dont pull facts from the MLS they rank you based on the information you log under your account. This doesn't seem like a accurate way to log information. So here are the sites the Birmingham News raved about! Agent rank.com, Homegain.com, and Incredibleagents.com
