First, make sure that the tax bill is the legal description of your property.

Second, make sure that the information online on which your taxes are being based (lot size, number of bedrooms, number of baths) is accurate.

Third, get some representative comps. A Realtor can help you with that. Look for recent sales of comparable properties.

Fourth, follow the procedures outlined in the document accompanying your tax bill on how to appeal it. Usually, there's a time frame in which you must act. Then, different jurisdictions want different supporting documents. Make sure you follow those precisely.
