The real question is 'why not' ? who says so? is it fair that a media company can screw around with incorrect home valuations with no right of appeal by the property owner?
jccinoh has every right to ask for a correction to his home - especially as zillow zestimates are based on a nonsense algorithm that has never been independently tested and zillow has a track record of very poor data integrity that results in erroneous valuations..

Thank you for the answers! We are not planning to sell just doing a REFI since rates are so low.

What I would suggest, is go into the 'remarks' section and put professional appraisal done, the date, and for how much it appraised for. If anyone is looking at your home, they can see that. You know appraisals are only good for the day they are done, reason being , if the day after a home that is 'like' your home sells, for higher or lower, that will change the comparatives number. I hope that helps. FYI- We are seeing a stronger market here in the Raleigh area.
The bad news is you can't. It doesn't matter how incorrect the zestimate is as all zillow will tell you is that 'it is just a starting point' blah blah blah. Writing a comment as wetdawgs suggest is worthwhile but who will believe you when the infallible algorithm has a different value which is probably lower and only of benefit to a buyer making a low offer and using the zestimate as substantiation for the offer.

The Zestimate is a value calculated by Zillow using public data and doesn't use appraisal numbers. However, once you've claimed your home you can put your appraiser's opinion of value in the "owner's comments" just below the Zestimate.

Recently had an appraisal. How do I (or can I) update the zestimate on my home?
