Remodeled floor/kitchen does that increase my house value?

Profile picture for prososser
I have remodeled my first floor with upgrade kitchen, open floors (removing walls), hardwood floor throughout.  I want to move from FHA to conventional and, want to see if all of these upgrades will buy me enough equity to go for conventional loan.

Upgrades and remodels in kitchens and bathrooms can be the most effective way to increase value of your home. As always, it depends on comparables in your area, quality of work, etc.

What some don't understand is that every property carries a max value, and that once that max value is reached, it doesn't matter how much more money and material is invested into the property, the value will not increase.

So as long as your property is located in an area with a high enough max value ceiling and the kitchen was in need of an upgrade, you likely increased the value of your home.

For a specific determination on how much, you will need to talk to a local Realtor or order an appraisal.

Good luck!

Yes, one of the most important buying factors for a buyer is the kitchen. Now as far as the equity factor, you will need to contact a local Realtor to assist you with the assessment value of the upgrades.

Typically you will get some added value in your home after a kitchen remodel.  How much value will depend on your market and the comparables that are selling in your neighborhood.

I would recommend contacting a realtor in your area who will be able to help you determine the value of your home after the upgrades.
