What type of visa? You need to provide 2-3 years of W2. Possibly proof that your visa will be valid/extended for at least 3 years and a letter from employer.

To fill in more details...

My application is being submitted for USDA loan.I am currently on a non-immigrant visa status .My underwriter came back and denied the loan as he said, this loan is only for U.S citizen or Permanent residency status folks.

I want to know if anyone here has been approved for a USDA loan when on a visa. I meant H1B or work visa.I do have all the documents you mentioned.

One can get home loan being on work visa. Some lenders here are knowledgeable on various immigration statuses (H1/L1/EAD/AOS) and they would be able to help you. Submit a loan request and contact the lenders who has good reviews and see if they can get you loan based on your visa status.

one must be a us citizen or permanent resident for the rural development loans.  a non-immigrant visa will allow you to to be eligible for different loans, but not the rural development loan.

I'm in the same situation as Yulp. My closing date is on the 24th of the month and I just found out a couple of days ago that I wasn't eligible for the USDA rural housing program. Does anybody know if there are exceptions to their eligibility criteria or if there are other options to avail this program even if i'm only on H1b visa? I also have a pending Green Card petition and I can ask my employer to send the necessary documents to back me up.
