I did and bothered them repeatedly when I bought. I had an agent and although she did what I asked, she was not as forceful or demanding as I was nor could she convey my position as well as I could myself. There are no laws prohibiting it but you may get some resistance from the listing agent. They may not be able to answer some questions and may not want to answer some.
Hopefully your offer had language permitting you to walk without any loss at any time prior to receiving written approval from the seller's lender. This way you can keep looking and change course if another option becomes available.
