Interesting....don't know why this popped up on the thread list, but it sure sounds interesting.

I came to the party late. I was not posting in 2007 (when this was posted) about not buying now. However, prices have fallen around 1/3 since that date to now. We still have a lot more drop to come.
I wish I knew who posted this originally. It would be interesting to see if they now realize that those who bought in 2007 did commit financial suicide and those who waited to buy until much much later would have saved a lot of money.
I found out in the past few months that a buddy of mine bought at the very top of the market. Just one month later prices were falling. I am sure he wishes someone had told him how houses were overpriced and waiting to buy was the best idea to follow.
P.S. If there was a separate board here we should have a separate board for those who say "buy now prices are low and interest rates are low (etc.)" so that buyers do not get mislead.

It would be easier to give the cheerleaders their own forum instead. Oh wait they already have several, since the original poster profile has been removed, I can only hope they moved on to Trulia and are happily discussing the phenomenal improvement in real estate prices since they bottomed in their local market way back in 2006.

Well, I did flag it as soon as I noticed that it some how accidentally got sticky status, so that they could remove that status so that it would disappear from the first page... but apparently it must be more complicated than that since the posting account already was deleted.
Of course, the only kind of "board" that I think of when I read the title and the post is similar to the paddle teachers and principals used to use to keep misbehaving student in line. So, "bashers" should have their own "boards" to "bash" market manipulators and liars with? Maybe something like Bam Bam on the Flintstones?

Ah, the benefits of 20-20 hindsight! Perhaps the "prophets of Doom and Gloom" who were posting dire warnings should be called "realists" instead. Four years later the original post looks so naÏve! The "Doom and Gloom" arrived three years ago and it's still getting gloomier for many property owners, both residential and commercial, as I write this.

I like the term "realist". With the benefit of hindsight is it pretty clear who was right and who wasn't.

It is a classic. I would also like to point out that the bank run occurred in 1933 not in the 1920's, apparently the OP was not good with facts.
