You might pay .125% more on rate and if you have 60 days to close on new purchase, it would avoid the need to compare with other lenders. This is an example though that one size does not fit all. If there are unique circumstance (and most loans/applicants have them) there is likely to be a benefit of having a local referred loan officer to work with to get your loan closed.
