Small towns up here often were one horse towns. When the mills died so did the town. With no replacement jobs they did not come back.

I bought and live in a small town in southern Ohio it is beautiful to me and ssoso to the locals. Go figure!!! This was a coal minning town of 30,000 with many stores and a great down town, now sorry to say we are 1,800 and many empty beautifull old buildings I believe this could be a Walt Disney Dream Town that can and will offer small town friendlyness, and a town where setting on a bench in town is an honor. Yes we can and we will do it come join us many oppertunities to start a small business, make yourself at home, and raise your family. Please e-mail for any info. [Contact info removed by moderator]

Linda, I completely agree, I am seeing some of the old towns in Southern Rhode Island being rehabilitated into really cute places after so many years of neglect. I love seeing these towns put forth effort into recreating the small town comfort from years gone by!
Smaller older towns are reviving - are they in your state or region?
