Staging - how long does it take to stage a home?

A lot of people have been asking us this.

Thoughts?

Oh, I see where you're going with this. It isn't enough just to bring in furniture - to make the home market ready may require . . . more!

That's a good point! As an ASP myself, it's easy to think of "staging" as just moving in rented furniture. A stage set, however, is more than just objects on the floor.Sometimes, you need to bolster the structure to accomodate lighting or screens or what have you.

It may be useful to separate "staging" from "presentation." It is valuable to take on the repairs and cleaning; the landscape can't mature overnight - but the "staging" - maybe we have to recognize that the General Public sees that as bringing in the removables, and not so much the stuff that's going to be left behind!

You apparently have a different definition of "staging" than I do.   I don't consider repairing, cleaning, decluttering, fresh paint etc as "staging".    The definition seems to get broader every year.

Thanks for the response. The reality that we have experienced since 2005 is that it takes between a few days and a few months.  Property owners need to take an honest look at the property, try to figure out how much time it might take to complete the major projects and then try to compute the total number of hours needed for completion.  The trick is experience.  After a full 8 years of doing this we have great insight into how long a particular property might take to get it ready.

1 to 4 hours, depending on what is needed.

As your name suggests you are a stager, what do you say?
