Summer is almost here! Colorado Springs has lots of great summer camps.

Hard to believe that the school year is almost over, but that means that it is time to plan for summer camp soon. I found this great guide to summer camps around Colorado Springs here.

The camps vary in length, price and activity focus, but there a lot of terrific choices to help break up the summer doldrums. Drama, rockclimbing, trampoline camp...whatever your kids might like.

Parents should carefully check out camps before enrolling. Asking local teachers, coaches, pastors and friends is great way to find an engaging summer camp. Sites like epinions here or a site like campratingz here have ratings from parents and campers.

There are many sleep over camps close to Colorado Springs that might also be worth looking into. This site alone here has over 900 camps listed in Colorado so there is something for everyone.

I lived in colo. in the early 80s, summers are spectacular and winter sking was the best.  Southern Ca. being our home we moved back here in 1984.  We moved up to Lake Arrowhead which is another beautiful mountain community just a short distance from LA, Orange Co. and San Diego....

Summers really are spectacular. I went to a horse ranch in North Central Colorado that was terrific. My trusty ranch horse, Tommy Two Tone, and I rode through some of the prettiest country on the planet. Green grass, small wildflowers with flowing streams winding through peaky mountains...stunning. Plus the weather was terrific for riding, not too hot and not too cold.

There is a list of nice ranches in CO here probably more suitable for a family vacation than a kids summer vacation.
