Denyse,
You can find calculators at the Village of Wilmette site that will answer your question based on lot dimensions or square footage. See

Hello Owner,
I am wondering why you have not responded to my question. I also have another question. What is the maximum allowed improved square footage on the lot. I drove past and it is definitely a teardown.

Having grownup in Wilmette and been away 20 years I can hardly believe how easily homes are considered teardowns! In a similar neighborhood in the SF bay area this home would cost at least 20 - 30% more and would be considered a prime property for restoration. My mom grew up in the house next door and my parents first home was across the street so I am a little bias... Still a house like this can be 'updated' while still retaining its original Prairie character. If you need a bigger house there are plenty more newly built ones to be found in Wilmette or Winnetka .I'd love to see an end to the wasteful teardowns in Wilmette!
