Teardown?

Profile picture for storeymd
Is this going to be a teardown, renovation, or is it move-in-ready? I am looking to get my child into New Trier and this is a pretty good location and your price is less than 1/2 my budget. I see that house is small.
Question refers to 111 4th St, Wilmette, IL 60091

Denyse,

You can find calculators at the Village of Wilmette site that will answer your question based on lot dimensions or square footage. See

Hello Owner,

I am wondering why you have not responded to my question. I also have another question. What is the maximum allowed improved square footage on the lot. I drove past and it is definitely a teardown.

Having grownup in Wilmette and been away 20 years I can hardly believe how easily homes are considered teardowns! In a similar neighborhood in the SF bay area this home would cost at least 20 - 30% more and would be considered a prime property for restoration. My mom grew up in the house next door and my parents first home was across the street so I am a little bias... Still a house like this can be 'updated' while still retaining its original Prairie character. If you need a bigger house there are plenty more newly built ones to be found in Wilmette or Winnetka .I'd love to see an end to the wasteful teardowns in Wilmette!
