The new zestimate came up starting Dec 2011 is largely inaccurate

Profile picture for frans1996
Not sure of what Zillow did, my home in Irvine Ca has decrease by 250k in 60 days based on Zestimate. This is incorrect since the comparable home closed escrow in Nov 2011 at 250k more there is another that closed escrow at 220k more in Dec2011. Zillow needs to correct this as your incorrect algorithm is not reasonable and causing unfair practice and (-) impact on the homeowner. Help on how to get this corrected please

Thank you all. I have submitted a complaint to Zillow and see what happen. I hope they do the right thing before there is a neg. domino effect on them.

I understand your frustration, the same was done when we went to sell our home 6 years ago.  We went down to city hall and our home was listed as a two bedroom and not a three, the square footage was off also.  Once we corrected everything our esitmate changed.  If you want we can send you a comparbable market analysis free of change with no obligations.  Email us at [hotlink removed] with you address and we will send it to you via email.
Thanks

NTETS when you make statements like " @ surbiton, you had your home reviewed by multiple staff members directly. The only one trying to create controversy is you"

The only conclusion that readers can draw is that you are a Zillow employee as how else would you know that my home reviewed by multiple staff members?. The fact is that they did one review, found that they have the home mapped to the incorrect city 6 miles away, and still refuse to correct or delete an erroneous valuation even though they say it will take 8 to 10  months to correct their mapping error. How irresponsible is that?

@frans,

a good place to start is reviewing the home data that zillow has for your property. check sq footage, BR, BA, etc and make sure everything is right.

@frans 1996

sorry to read that zillow has cursed your property with one of its inaccurate zestimates. The problem you will find is that they refuse all requests by homeowners to review and correct erroneous valuations like you have described. Such arrogance is totally unacceptable in any fair minded society and one can only presume that their motive is to cause controversy to increase the number of people looking at home valuations on their website.

It's time that our legislators caught up with the technology and introduced some form of regulation to stop this nonsense by AVM sites like zillow.You should write to your congressman and state attorney general highlighting your complaint against zillow. Also raise it with the Better Business Bureau in Seattle where zillow are based. Another option is to go to the new Consumer Finance Protection Board website and submit your complaint there.

One thing you can be sure about is you will get lots of comments from zillow supporters telling you that zillow is just a starting point blah blah blah.
