Hopefully you're still in your grace period(option, 10 day, whatever). Have a contractor who does pool repair get you an estimate a.s.a.p. In this buyers market I would not pay for the repairs as a buyer, unless you're getting way below current market value. Your buyers agent should have paperwork to ask for repairs from the seller and give them a quick timeline so you'll know before your x amount of days is up.

Do you have an agent? If not please contact one or myself. We can negotiate for you and most likely you will get things settled. If you don't sometimes the seller will have you signing things you should never have to agree to.

Everything can be negotiated.   If you are interested in purchasing, you have to make some decisions on how many of the repairs you are willing to take on.  Swimming pools continuously need maintenance and repairs, so the first question is are these repairs major or just the periodic repairs required to keep in top form.

I'd never buy a house with a swimming pool again because maintenance is so costly.   We could easily afford gym memberships in spiffy places with pools for the cost of maintenance of a home pool without substantial repairs.
