The Mariners need hitting. A lot of it. And cheaply, because they're pretty much maxed out on salary. And R.A. Dickey is crazy to risk his career climbing Kilimanjaro to raise $25,000 for a charity when he makes $25,000 a day as a major league pitcher. Not to mention that he's kind of irreplaceable, given that only twenty-four people had a lower ERA as a front-line starting pitcher last year.

Now that I think of it, the Republican race seems to have taken the place of the now defunct daytime soap operas.
On a side note, on an evening filled with mostly reruns and retreads, on Monday night the Univision network (a Spanish language channel) scored the highest ratings of the evening with a 3.2 share among viewers between the ages of 18 to 49. CBS came in 2nd for the evening (excepting a 3.3 share for a repeat of 2 1/2 men).
The show on Univision? La Fuerza del Destino or The Strength of Destiny.

Herman Cain was my man. Now I am lost, searching for a candidate to support. What would be really fun is if at the convention they would fill a large bulletin board with names of eligible persons from random walks of life, give a monkey some darts to throw at the names. Go with the first one that has a H.S. diploma and has an actual job.

anytime I miss something and then hear the jokes on late night TV I first react with...that can't REALLY be what they said, surely that is doctored video, or misquoted or something. Then you see actual footage and realize late night TV was being nice.
I keep telling myself...perhaps people get more nervous on TV that I think they do- surely people running for office have it together more than it appears. Monkey idea sounds like a winnah to me!

As to the Republican presidential race, when all is said and done next summer some loser will have failed to lose the nomination, and next November one of the losers that will failed to lose one of the parties nominations will fail to lose the election. What are the odds we will succeed in electing a non-loser president, or to any office above a local level?

There is a real art to getting people to view a thread just based on title only; and even more of an art in responding to keep readers coming back. Dune's thread almost died about 8 times last year. I had a chart, but I think it was lost.

Thanks for the comment on the avatar. I figured new profile needed new avatar. old profile has new avatar too as I am slowly killing it. The original goal was to start over without stars but as I was doing this...decided to just start over without agent tag. Too disgruntled (not disillusioned) not likley to stay licensed. I'm finding out the job market for my other skills is far better here than I thought. Now..to decide what to do.

I haven't met anyone that is all that excited about a candidate yet. I'd like to see OK Gov Mary Fallin run as a vice president but there isn't a presidential candidate worthy of losing her as Gov. "Discussion" is not "advice" no matter how Zillow labels it.
I see no reason for a "professional" to have a tag if they are not soliciting contact and don't want it. There are lots of loan officers that don't have "lender" tags on Zillow, and many REA's that have more than one profile with only one having a tag.
And it especially seems like a good idea not to have an REA tag if one is seriously considering letting the license lapse and changing industries.

not working the other profile now. I was torn as to start new profile as agent so that I could drop the stars but keep marketing here.
but I've given it enough thought in the past few days- am disgusted with the profession enough to not participate as a licensee anymore at all. I need to stay licensed through to the 6th to see a difficult transaction to completion- I've given away my listings and clients to other agents (minus my own house) so rather than add the tag and drop it later
just didn't add it to new profile, admitted in the profile that i am an agent.
took my face and all zip codes but one off other profile, took name off it.
getting no financial benefit from that profile since I've killed it. not posting under it to keep it up there. if the stars would disappear I'd still use it but...they wont

whether or not I have a license doesn't change my point of view on issues. However I see your point. So...I'll just refrain from answering more questions until the 6th when license is gone and the remains of the "starred" profile are completely useless.

Connie make your own call, but as someone who has read your good advice I secretly hope you park your license/profile instead of dropping it. Always nice to see a good agent post, but tag or no tag your advice is just as solid.

It appears that Tug of War encouraged the action, with his questions about whether agents are willing to take a stand on their beliefs and on website practices they disagree with (such as agent reviews from random contacts with no client relationship).
(One on the lender size was banned by Zillow multiple times partially due to a lawsuit against Zillow... but with the ability to come back anonymous, the loan officer is very helpful in providing good information. But cannot put any contact info on the profile or Zillow will delete the profile again).

Oh. I should qualify- I'm going inactive. not dropping it. there is a difference but I don't expect to turn it back on when it expires, it won't expire for 3 years. I don't see myself coming back as a pro. I started feeling disgusted about a year ago becuase the industry is geared to reward those that do the "buy now" and "let me short sale your house" and so on. the reviews thing is bothersome because it's the same kind of slimy activity- it works- if i wanted to leverage that I could- dont' want to. Tug encourage speaking up to get rid of the stars but the reality is...it's more than the stars that bother me. Having some cross sales with some that I'd call NAR models is the icing on the cake. the truth is...that isn't who I want to be and that is who you need to be to really make it. I've spent a couple of years with the little paycheck you get if you don't do that. at some point liking real estate and wanting to do it without the propaganda is outweighed by missing the income- but I don't choose to join in an change how I do real estate to get the income, would rather just say goodbye to it. however...watering hole shouldn't be about me.

I don't know anythign about Mariners - but that sounds like a good topic. so I will wait until Jan 6 to answer consumer questions.

This is why you can't have a bar. The topics that should not be discussed in a bar, always get discussed anyhow. Bar etiquette is a lost art. We might need a metal detector at the door. I guess private club status is out of the question.

For the sake of the REA reputation, I am sorry to hear you are seriously considering leaving it. You have been a voice of reason for them with an online presence.
I do however wish you good luck in returning to your other profession. Are you going to go the independent route and continue to work 1099 as a consultant or have you found or hope to find a company you are willing to become an employee of? I don't think many REA's realize how many "consultants" in that profession work 1099 as opposed to W2. I don't work 1099 anymore but did for many years and still consider it a valid option if things were to change.
Definitely do not make it a private club, unless of course it is UT for the liquor license requirement. Bars with patrons practicing bar conversation etiquette and taboos are no fun what so ever.

The watering hole..
It's an attempt at setting up a second tavern. The first one hasn't died but it's not getting posts so much anymore, however it seems there is still a need for one. This is the place where it's Ok to get a little off topic, share links and videos, comments, mention other threads that might be interesting to chase down and read without the intent of gossiping...simply just...a place to check in every few days, have a lively discussion, link to other discussions and so on. I'm no Dunes but giving it a try anyway. Same rules apply..no attitudes, badges and so on. It's not my watering hole- but it is a place to gather and discusss whatever is on your mind. No topic is off limits (especially not chocolate, politics, religion, market issues or even zestimates). Disagreement welcome, personal attacks not. When the two get confused someone will happily jump in and point it out so we can move on. Hope to see participation. If not...well thanks for letting me try.
