There are listings For Sale or Sold where the sales history is not given, why?

How do brokers or other professionals can publish property information with no sales history given, on Zillows or the Assessor's web site? Thanks in advance for helping to answer this question.

The county assessor's website is updated only my the county via their recorder's office.  No real estate professionals have access to update this information.  Zillow uses their own tools to update sales history and this is not based on real estate professionals either.

How no sales history ends up in the county site is something you'll need to ask your county.   In some counties, at the time of sales people can pay to have sales and ownership records suppressed.  This tends to happen with movie stars, sports stars and certain public figures.

If the county doesn't have it as public, then Zillow will not have it.

How can a broker list a property on Zillow without the records?   This usually happens when someone creates a duplicate due to different spellings of the address.   If the main record (with sales and tax history) is Towhee Dr , an agent sometimes creates a duplicate by calling the street Towhee Drive.    This will result in two records in Zillow, one with public info and one without.

Zillow is free, it isn't perfect.  There are missing records.   In most communities, most of the records are present.

It's a free site and to expect a lot from it seems to be a reach. Your assessor's web site is theirs and you would need to ask them about what is or is not there, but I don't think they care much about history only what it sold for.
