There goes the 15k tax credit...

Working to accommodate the new, lower overall limit of the bill, negotiators effectively wiped out a Senate-passed provision for a new $15,000 tax credit to defray the cost of buying a home, these officials said.

From Foxnews:  "lawmakers agreed to “shave” a proposed $15,000 tax credit for homebuyers, though he didn’t provide specifics. "

Nevermind, found it.

Also found this: Working to accommodate the new, lower overall limit of the bill, negotiators effectively wiped out a Senate-passed provision for a new $15,000 tax credit to defray the cost of buying a home, these officials said. The agreement would allow taxpayers to deduct the sales tax paid on new car purchases, but not the interest on loans for the same vehicles.

So there is now a tax credit to purchase a new car...LOL!!!

From what I had been hearing, I see this it is rather good news.  The National Association of Realtors was pushing Capital Hill and all other powers that be, for rates to stay the same, and in substitute of lower rates, they wanted the $15,000 credit so it would benefit them on the upcoming waive of home sales from foreclosures etc.
The tax credit would only benefit a small percentage of Americans but lower rates will benefit the majority.

AW-  wrong:

Tax breaks for workers that had been set at $1,000 per family or $500 per individual would be scaled back to $800 per family and $400 per individual.

There was some dude who was BROWBEATING me about reading before I wrote on the "agreed upon" $15,000 tax credit.... I had stated it was a "TENT SALE" and smoke and mirrors. I will not take the time to stalk him or anyone who was "preaching about done deals" prior to their enactment.. I simply will continue to caution America into keeping eyes open and ears up.  Rhetoric is just that... grandstanding to save themselves.  We all need to find correct and solid information to help us weather the storm.  There is no easy out.. it will be a grind, but with proper guidance and direction, we will make it.  keep rockin'.

wow i cant believe they yanked the rug out from under us like that.  here's my best optimistic spin: hopefully they stuck with the House plan to eliminate the repayment feature on the original $7500 credit and geithner has a plan to bring rates down to 4.5.  also, the 15k credit passed the senate unaniously so conceivably its author, sen. isakson, could bring it up again and all the politicians would have to vote aye or nay.  perhaps not likely, but possible.

No offense, but what the heck is this supposed to mean?

I'm pretty sure most of us work pretty damn hard and get very little in return from our good old government.

Woo-Hoo.  At least I get my 7500 for buying one week before the new year and even though I have to pay it back someone else who bought a week later doesn't get double + no repayments.  For those on the fence, go FHA and negotiate no closing costs, sellers will be willing prices are low enough and inventory high!
