There could be a number of reasons why. Perhaps the home owner was able to pull it together to keep the house?
Maybe the offer wasn't accepted. Cancelled could just mean a transaction that didn't go through.
How long ago was it listed as a short sale? Is there a listing agent involved to call and ask? Sometimes the status will change quickly and the different sites online haven't had a chance to be updated.
Hopefully you can seek out a local agent to help. You can try calling your local broker and ask about the property via the MLS. Hope this helps you find your answer. :-)
