Because too many Texas homeowners complain about their "zestimate being sooo off" Zillow is now posting the tax assessed value. We know that it doesn't represent the market value.
It really shouldn't matter to you what the zestimate is since it doesn't affect your market value nor does it affect the taxes you pay.
It works well for some other states, just not for Texas.

Remember, Zillow is just a computerized estimate. In Texas, you have to also consider we are a non disclosure state (sales prices are not made public). Zillow gets their information from public records, and only the amount of the loan is recorded, which skews the numbers. To get a true value of a home, we suggest you have a Comparative Market Analysis (CMA) done on your home by a local REALTOR. A reputable REALTOR will come out to your home, and do this type of report for you for no charge.

To Zillow-Why did our home value just drop about $70,000 in one month?
