If the government is not willing to help out with the mortgage issues, perhaps, it is up to us to take this matter into our own hands. As a homeowner myself, I can not stand to risk my house in jeopardy as people continue to spread hypocrisy just so that the people who can not afford to buy a house can afford it in the future.

Don't you guys think that we as home owners should create some kind of alliance to fight back against these buyers? Perhaps we can make a stand and not lower our prices for years which will finally shut them up so we can go back to our business

They're not buyers if they don't buy.

Right now, there are more buyers than ever before. They are all just waiting for prices to come down, which is not going to happen anytime soon. It's like the buyers are now in a suppressed mode and pretty soon there will be a huge explosion of house buying market spree all across the country. At that point, we will come back to where we are today ala 2004.

These are things that economist predict but does not get in the news because the media just wants to spread gloom and fear because it keeps viewers more interested. This is all just a giant media scam. We are just feeding into the media to generate more revenue for them newsmen.

Yeah, but the janitors and the bus boys can't get those loans anymore; so they don't count.

I almost feel bad for the media. They get blamed for just about everything. Explain to me exactly how the media caused hundreds if not thousands of lenders nationwide to go out of business? Explain to me exactly how the media caused the Fed to lower rates and keep them low for years while lenders lowered credit standards to only requiring you to be alive to get a jumbo loan?

Agent Smith, I've tracked homes in our target demographic for over a year now it seems that your alliance is already strong in my area. There's quite a bit of stale inventory here, 6 months, 9 months, some well over a year. Those dedicated to "the cause" are persistent if nothing else.

If I were to make a decision now, I would buy a house now than to become a renter throwing away money for rest of the year. There are many benefits owning a home. The most important benefit being having your own home. There is no feeling like it. You get to turn up the music as loud as you want without having someone next door to you knock on your door at 2 in the morning. The other things would be getting back your taxes, in which if you were to rent, you would be just as well throwing your money away to the government. You will not get any of these benefits by living in your small little apartment.

NAR alert!!!! "Now is a great time to buy!"

PS: You'd be amazed at how cool our neighbors are & renting a townhouse with garage for less than 1/2 (even after the tax breaks) isn't all bad. To each his own... And yes, eventually we'll buy, just not looking to catch a falling knife.

PPS: Are you familiar with the Robert Schiller graph? A picture really is worth a thousand words...

Ahh, but the hundreds of thousands that I save from renting until the bottom falls out is just so, how should I say...........prosperous.

The Schiller graph is my point exactly. The graph suggest just because we shot 300-400% in the last 4 years or so, we would go back down again 300-400% is just absolutely stupendous. When home values arose 300-400%, that means we are now at a new era where our economy is stronger than ever. It is a simple cause and effect just playing it out to get things balanced.

This means that home prices might fall maybe 10-20%, but not 300-400%. The last peak we had, set an all time high and it is showing that our economy is constantly moving forward and setting new bars. It is just the housing market playing catch-up with our ever rapidly growing economy.

LIB, I agree, a 300% decline would mean that we'd be paid twice the current home's value to take it off of someone's hands. Yeah...I don't see that happening either : 0

ok ok here's my take, first of, i never read were the man is comming from, the whole country didnt rise 300-400 percent, so in some area's rent is throwing money away, for instance my morgage payment is 800 a month, if i sold my house now i could not rent a place for what i got now for less than that.i would be stupid to sell then go rent.thats why when i sell i will buy another place.the other problem is everybody is so hooked on the california market they think the whole world is screwed, we aint, but for the people in so. cal. boy i feel sorry for you.

Yes, Heyharris, it may be worse here than in other places. The prices went up so high that people making well over a hundred a year can't afford somewhere relatively nice to buy. That is insane, and it couldn't go on forever.

I'm still trying to figure out where so many thousands of people are getting 4 and 5,000 a month to pay these mortgages for essentially simple, middle class homes. Prices falling around here was inevitable.

Why do you hate the free market so much?

If you don't want to sell for the price buyers wish to pay then don't. Godspeed.

Agent Smith- Can you tell us how the average CA workers making $70k a year can afford a home when the price is $700k for a Fixer upper? Are you going to lend me money now that the banks aren't?

I had suspicions, but he did a pretty good job trying to smash those other guys (TeamSchillace I think) thread. I fell for the bait for a while.

Is this guy just an old fashioned, bona fide Troll? The kind with absolutely no position in the subject, just bent on cracking the forum? Wow. That's worse that being a skriptkiddie. Hey dude, at least try to code something up. That way you might learn something while wasting everyone else's time.
