I'm in the same situation and the same question drove me here. Did you ever get an answer or find out why that policy exists?

Yes I'm aware of the policy - which is why I'm inquiring about applying for an exemption or implementing a workaround with Zillow's approval. Any Zillow employees out there who may know something about this? Appreciate any guidance.

Under Item 2. License to Zillow API & Data they made it clear:
You may not implement the Zillow API or distribute the Zillow Data on mobile apps.

Use of API on Mobile Applications
Is there any way to apply for approval to use the Zillow API on an app? We're developing one that would drive a lot of traffic to the Zillow site so I think it would be a benefit to Zillow. If not, would it be acceptable to use it indirectly by setting up a separate website which would use the API, and then pulling the data to the app from this separate website? If there is any way to make it acceptable to Zillow it would greatly improve the app and certainly add traffic to Zillow.
Many thanks.
