Keep in mind the new tax credit is not available until 12/1/09.  So if you have closed already you would unfortunately be out of luck.

As an existing homeowner for the new tax credit you would have to own your home for 5 out of the last 8 years, which in September 2009 you did. 

Of course there are other qualifications, but from the standpoint of 5 year ownership, you qualify.
