I would recommend them being similar in size, style, and color. They dont have to be the same brand and everything but similar is good.

When you are getting ready to place your home on the market I would definitely have the same finish on the hardware in bathrooms and kitchens. It's okay if one room varies from another, but each room should be the same.

It usely happens when contractors are building spec houses. They get good deals on fixtures or use what they have from other jobs. You don't always get matching hardware.
