Anyone providing a service has to be multifaceted. I gave a lot of thought to the question. Honesty? Knowledge of the law? Knowledge of the community? Energy? Communications skills? Respect for their client's needs? Drive? Dedication?
I finally narrowed it down. I want each RE transaction I am involved in to be win-win. I want to be able to sit at the closing table with my buyer/seller and know both sides are satisfied they are getting the deal they wanted. I want my agent to have the learned skills and innate talents that facilitate that result. NOT an easy job!

Honesty, applicable education and market savvy. I want an agent that is easy to work with on my side and a solid negotiator talking to the other side.

These replies are directed at what a buyer wants from an agent. What a seller wants in an agent is the ability to sell their home. Period.

Marilyn,
I'd want someone with enough intelligence to look up the responses to the myriad number of times others have asked this same question.

Sunnyview,
You really do have the patience of a saint. I just couldn't handle yet another of these questions with your grace.
p.s. Notice how the responses (other than yours) are other realtors answering the first realtor's question? Nice.

Empathy, knowledge and an ego strong enough to live up to your promises and hold the contract together to settlement. talktoray.com
