What Makes a Good Website?

For those of you who own a website: How much emphasis have you put on the design and the functionality? We can all agree unattractive websites will do you absolutely no favors. How have you gone about navigating the deep seas of Internet real estate and the underlying information in the website itself? We'd love to read about your strategies and success stories in terms of marketing.

Also for any of those interested we have a Zillow blog page with some points.

Also, what types of interactive interesting content do you use to bring viewers back? What works and what does not work?

Profile picture for Rate A Home
I provide a wish list program on my home building web site that provides me with not only a lead generator but also the information I would need to quote a home for the buyer.

Through my Real-Estate side, I provide walk through check lists and rating programs to help the buyer choose the right home.

The marketing side is from past customers who tell their friends and families of the value of these services that I provided to narrow down their search and removing the frustration in choosing the right home.

I think adding the Zillow API enhances your site. I am using both the zestimate and comps API.

Check what I did on mine:

I also added free classifieds and an "instant loan pricer" under my Home Loans section.

I never said Zestimates are actual values. As you probably know, they are just starting point. Even agent and appraiser opinion varies. Value is what buyers are willing to pay for.

Note that even lenders are now accepting AVM's which are automated valuations. I think Zillow zestimates especially in my local area are helpful and will even get better.

Although the market has shifted, business is still good and will get better.

As you can see on www.CerritosLiving.com, I utilize technology not just for me but for my clients' benefits. There are many effective marketing methods that cost almost nothing like the sites I mentioned on my marketing plan. I also offer Seller-paid advertising options like home staging, print and tv ads, etc...
