What are taxes on 150,000 home?

I'm thinking about moving to Florida from WV.  I was wondering if the taxes are higher there?  I have 15 acres. and a 2000 aq. home.  We pay $600 a year as a Sr. Citizen.

Taxes will be dependent on homestead vs non-homestead rates. Military veterans with 100% disability are tax exempt.

The tax appraiser's office is pretty helpful if you have questions. Here is a link to some tax information.

Can be as little as 500 a year to 5K Just depends on where you want to move.
Just did a purchase for 150K on 3 acres and the taxes were 3300.00 Working on one now that is on 1 acre at 175k and taxes are 800.00 it really depends on the house and county.
Another great sit for public records is http://www.netronline.com/

Property taxes will be determined on assessed market value and you will get a discount if you homestead the property (make it your primary residence).  Other deductions are available if you are a disabled veteran, a widow or widower.

Just to give you an estimate I went to www.leepa.org and used the tax calculator and the online estimator shows if you purchased a home for $150,000 your property taxes would be approximately $1,968 homesteaded or $2,823 non-homesteaded.

Also, keep in mind that Florida does not have a state or local tax like some states have and our local sales tax is 6%.  All in all the cost of living here is affordable and of course the weather is fabulous.

You can go online or call the local assessors offcice to see what the taxes are for the property currently. It is public information . You can also check on this site by pluggin the address in and it will tell you what the taxes are for the past year annually.

Each home will have a different assessed value and millage rate. Your best bet is to check out the specific homes you're looking at.
