What can I do?

Profile picture for cmertz30
I was planning on leasing a property in Texas. When we signed the lease it said that I had inspected the property an everything was in working order. But there weren't any utilities on. When we got everything turned on we found that the pool has a massive leak the pool pump doesn't work the hot tub doesn't work an some of the electricity doesn't either. The lease isn't in effect for another week an I don't know what can be done about this situation. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ask the landlord when the pool and hot tub are going to be repaired, and at the same investigate here http://texastenant.org/

Along with your lease, you should have received an 8 page inventory report that you have to fill out room by room describing what is broken.  Documenting everythign with pictures helps a lot too.  Why would you sign a paper that says everything was in order when you didn't check everything?  Were you coerced into signing it?

You should also have received in your lease contact information for repairs.
