Pull your credit report and analyze it. Be sure everything showing up is correct and current. It is very important to open new credit, 2-4 good "tradelines" is what a lender will look at now. You can't do much about the past, but you are in control of the future. Keep it clean and no lates, anywhere!!

2 years from the discharge for a chapter 7 for an FHA loan and re-established credit is advisable. Open 3 accounts and keep them paid off.

How long ago? Chapter 7 ? 13? We need more info. One thing you do need to do is to re-establish credit and keep it current. This will show the BK was due to a specific reason and the re-established cerdit shows that you are well on the way to correct whatever problems you previously had. JR

What do you do if you have a bankruptcy on your credit?
