I assume you mean "Pre-Foreclosure" listing. if that is the case the property is not for sale.
If you fall more than 30 days behind on your mortgage the bank is required to file a notice to that effect and that notice is published as a "Pre-Foreclosure". The vast majority of those mortgages are brought up to date and never go to foreclosure.
I really wish the companies that make a living out of publishing these lists would stop as it causes a great deal of confusion.

If a Realtor showed you the home they can answer all your questions.

If it has to be for sale for them to use the lock box, unless they entered without permission using a HUD key.

If it turns out it is not for sale currently and the Realtor went in without permission - I'd find myself another Realtor!!!

then if the realtor opened the house it must be on the market for sale either as a current listing - or maybe a short sale or as a foreclosure I assume there is a lockbox which contains the keys.. Why did the realtor not explain to  you or at least make some inquiry. The fact that the house is vacant is not really relevant.

Premarket foreclosure does not mean it is for sale; although, it could very well be. It just means that it is going through the foreclosure process. The currently owner has missed several payments and the lender is going through the foreclosure process to recoup their investment. The owner may have it for sale currently and very well may be seeking a short sale--or they may not be doing anything.

I hope you did not mean what you just said "we even had a walk through the house"
If you did without the specific permission of the owner then that is criminal trespass and you could be subject to arrest.
The only way a member of the public is allowed to enter a property is with the express permission of the owner.

I'm looking on zillow and there is a 'premarket' home. We even had a walk through the house and it's completely empty!

I didn't insult anyone, some other people insulted me and about 35 million people that come to get the "public information" that the website provides.

As for who is paying the bills?  Certainly not people that don't have "confirmed lender" nor "premier" next to their name.  Certainly the "advertisers" are paying more than the confirmed lenders and premier agents combined.  And what the advertisers are paying is based on "page views" which is based on site visitors like me that read "content", and site visitors like me that post content that people read.

And why would anyone be insulted if I stated I agree with them in the first place?

Didn't someone specifically state they wished Zillow wouldn't provide information since he gets "confused" by having information?   Didn't that person imply that they would rather have people contact him to provide information rather than having it public readily available?  The only thing we disagreed on was whether Zillow should provide information or not.  If agents on Zillow don't like the information provided on Zillow, they should stop using this website and get the information from their preferred local Title company and from their local MLS instead.

I agree that it causes a great deal of confusion for Real Estate Agents with a high school diploma and 2 weeks of intensive training to get a State license...

But it causes no confusion at all to average consumers with at least a 3rd grade education that bothers to read...

Sites like Zillow make no money providing the public records information to the public.  They are doing it as a "public service" for their typical site visitors.

More information doesn't cause "more confusion", it produces less confusion as the consumer is more informed to make their own decisions without the pressure of self-deceived sales people.

Every "pre-foreclosure" on Zillow indicates if it is a 90 day late notice, or if an auction date has been set.  And it indicates the date of the auction if an auction date has been set.  And it indicates who the trustee or attorney is that is handling the case if anyone cared to get more specific details.

From my experience with Zillow, pre-market foreclosure listing is not necessarily For Sale.  Sometimes data on zillow and MLS data can contradict each other. If you have a question about status of a particular property, contact a real estate broker in the area, who can cross-reference the property in the MLS data base and answer questions about it.
