Replace them if you plan to live there a while, in time the energy savings will pay you back. Do not replace if you are planning to sell soon, it will not increase the sale price by the cost of the windows. Shop around, there are many different types and prices

I would have to agree that windows do not add value to a home no more than doors do.  It is a maintenance item. If the house is properly maintained it will attract more buyers than one that is not.

Unfortunately you won't receive monetary value, however it will give you a competitive edge to your neighbor's home for sale if he hasn't invested in upgrades.  It is one less thing the buyer has to worry about taking care of in the near future.  Less immediate maintenance is always encouraging and can help with the sale on that level.

If your current windows are in need of repair, it will definitely work against you during negotiations.  If they are in good condition I would spend my money in a different area that may be in need.

New windows will not add value. They are considered maintenance. They may help attract buyers when your home is being compared to other homes for sale. They are considered more of a perk to the buyer...thus an attraction. My wife is a realtor is why I am familiar with this situation. Good luck.

Jason is right. It's won't add much monetary value. Upgrading windows, replacing a roof, and other updates are more of maintenance.

Keep this is mind though. If all the other homes in the neighborhood have updated windows, then your lack of updates will bring the value down.

Unfortunately not much unless the visual diffrence, or curb appeal  is dramatic. ther eae other ways to spend a small amountof money that might enhance the value of your home. Check wiht a realtor in yoru area and get their opinion.
