There were many events that triggered a revitalization of this very creative and diverse neighborhood, the restoration of the Stephen & Mary Birch Theatre was just an aspect of a much larger picture. Local residents, business owners and community-based organizations begun to implement fundamental building blocks for the future prosperity and resurgence of the area. Restoration of El Cajon Blvd and University Ave had begun prior to the changes made to the theatre. This theatre was originally built around 1928 and still is a historical landmark. Renovation sparked interest in the area while still paying respect to the historical features and charm of the structure. This brings thousands of people to the area to enjoy the local dining options, bars, shopping boutiques etc. This creates a ripple effect for the entire area which was greatly welcomed by residents of the area. We will continue to see the huge potential of North Park as it adapts and grows proving to be a favorite amount artists, entrepreneurs, musicians and writers alike.

I have lived in North Park for 16 years and have been selling homes in North Park for the past 6 years.  North Park and South Park have experienced a huge revitalization that has been ongoing and fast-paced for at least the past 10 years.  Our housing market is one of the most booming in the San Diego area.  We are nationally known for our great restaurants and microbrews and continue to grow as the perfect neighborhood in San Diego (great parks, food, arts and neighbors).

The San Diego Union-Tribune had a great article on North park recently.  You can check it out here. The redevelopment here has been recognized nnationally and there are so manycool things going on here.  The theater renovation certainly played a big role, but there is more to the story!

The whole area of north park is redeveloping. It isnt just because of the theater but because of the redevelopment funds for el cajon blvd.
