What happened to Meigs Field?

I moved from Chicago a few years ago. I remember Mayor Daly sending the bulldozers in to destroy the runways at Meigs Field. What's been done with the space?

Daley has moved forward in returning "Northerly Island" into a park, however it is a slow moving and ever changing process. There have been several concerts, talk about returning part of the area into a natural plain/bird sanctuary, and of course using the land for parts of the 2016 Olympics. Since it appears that Meigs Field will not be returning to an airport any time soon I hope that Northerly Island will remain a public space and not sold to private interests.

MEIGS FIELD WAS DESTROYED BY THE PARK DISTRICT FOR MAYOR DALY.HE WILL USE THE LAND TO BUILD THE CASINO OF HIS DREAMS. LIKE CHICAGO NEEDS ANOTHER PARK FOR THE RICH HIGH RISE DWELLERS. THE CASINO WILL BRING MORE MONEY TO CHICAGO THAN THE AIRPORT DID. THE FAA SUED DALY MILLIONS FOR WHAT HE FINALLY OWNED UP TO.THE OLYMPICS WON'T BE COMMING TO CHICAGO FOR A LONG TIME IF EVER.

Its an awesome concert venue. If you sail you can anchor right out Beautiful Lake Michigan. Chicago is awesome in the summer. We got it all here!
