What if home facts are inaccurate?

My house is full of three story victorians that are all built exactly the same. However, in Zillow, certain homes are listed as three story, certain others are inaccurately listed as two stories. Also, the square footage of my home, as well as some others in my neighborhood, is well below the actual amount. Why would this happen? What should you do if your basic home facts are blatantly inaccurate - and not because of a recent remodel or addition - but simply wrong? I claimed my house and edited my facts but the main "Zestimate" is clearly understated by a significant amount because of these inaccuracies. And the Zestimate is the primary value that comes up when researching the house. I did email Zillow a while ago about this but received no response.

Thank you for claiming your property and editing your home facts. Our property data all originates from the public records of your county, so the the likely cause of your incorrect facts is the county records. Please let me know if your county office does indeed have the correct facts.

We certainly are planning on using owner facts as an input into the Zestimate algorithm later this year, but we're not currently doing so.

Please keep in mind, no AVM (automated valuation model) will ever be 100% accurate. A Zestimate is a starting point to determining the value of a home. For more info, please see our "what's a Zestimate?" page - http://www.zillow.com/howto/Zestimate.htm

That said, thank you for your feedback - we are certainly working hard to improve Zestimate accuracy around the country.

Hi Drew, so how often do you poll the counties for the correct information. I did a rather large addition to my home, I have updated the information on zillow but when will they get the corrected information from the county (Riverside, CA) ?
