What is HOPA in Fl?

when referring to HOA fees some listigs say no HOPA or HOPA verified. What does it mean?

It refers to the Housing Older Persons Act (HOPA). It's the category used to identify 55+ and other senior communities throughout different counties. South Florida has a lot of these communites spread throughout but Boca does have its fair share as well.

Literally it means Housing for Older Persons Act. HOPA Nadine explained its implementation on her message so there is no need to repeat it.  If you want to know more about the Act itself, simply Google it.

Hi,

  HOPA refers to homes that may or may not be in a 55+ community.  If it says Y, at least one member of the household must be over the age of 55.  There are probably other restrictions that will govern the age of the youngest person in the household; that will vary by community.
