HOA fee refers to Homeowner Association fee or dues. These are usually paid monthly. The amount of the dues depends on what services they include such as monthly cable fees, management fees, common area insurance and maintenance, water, sewer, garbage, etc.

Most condos have a homeowner's association. But other properties such as planned communities, some townhome developments, etc. may also have monthly HOAs and HOA fees.

HOA = Home Owners Association.  HOA fees pay for a list of things such as lawn care - but you would have to consult the specific HOA to see what they include, and what their fees are, as they vary widely.
