In the past 12 months (from August 4, 2010 to August 4, 2011) per the West Penn Multi-List in all Squirrel Hill area's (The Multi-List divides Squirrel Hill into four areas: North of Forbes, Murdoch Farms, Squirrel Hill and Carnegie Mellon) there were 238 single family residential homes sold.  The average selling time was less then 85 days (84.29 days to be precise).  If by "North Squirrel Hill" you mean North of Forbes the figures there are eight sold in the past year at an average days on the market of 43.625 (please note that there may have been more homes in the North of Forbes area that were listed under another section of Squirrel Hill in the Multi-List).  The market in Squirrel Hill is a very active one as you can see and homes sell much faster then they do in most other South Western Pennsylvania areas.
 
If you price your property too high it may sit much longer.  Actually the key is to price it right and stage it well and it will sell for a good price in reasonably quick time with the least inconvenience and the least stress to you.  I hope this answers your questions and is helpful to you.

Homes are extended out to about 6 months.  Homes that were priced accordingly and under priced are setting about 45days.  Homes at top market value about 4 to 5 months.  While homes that are over priced are just sitting.  If listing here in the next week or two, these numbers should be better for you.  Buyer activity is up (but that's if listing at top market value or below.)  If you want a quick market value range for your home sent to you.  Email me the addresses and I'll email you a range for home (Market Analysis)  Top range being market ready and in good condition.
