It has been many years since I did the Manhattan commute to Fairfield County. It was difficult but doable especially given what you get in return: a more peaceful lifestyle in a charming, attractive community.

Dear Anne,

Depending on what end of Ridgefield you purchase your home, you have many choices.  Turner Hill is the north western tip of Ridgefield which is 2 miles from the Park and Ride to Brewster Train Station.  The express takes about 60 Minutes to Grand Central.  You are also about a mile from I84 and 5 minutes to 684.  If you are interested in the South End of Ridgefield, you have the choice of Park and Ride to Katonah Trains, 15-20 minutes by mini bus and another 45-50 min Train Ride to Grand Central. Branchville Train Station has limited service direct to NY and is about an hour 15 minutes.  It makes for good reading time and wind down time prior to getting through your front door...

Anne Kain,  There are many who do make this commute but it can be a killer.  You would also have some train options by going over to Wilton Station.
