What is the definition of a bedroom?

I've recently changed some information on zillow regarding the number of bedrooms in my house. I changed it from 2-4. How do I know which rooms can be regarded as bedrooms instead of sunroom, etc. etc. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Generally speaking you need a closet and a window and some towns will also not accept a space that is located in a basement.

In SoCal, I believe you need a closet and a window. More importantly, the window needs to be usable as a fire escape. This means that there is a minimum size for the window, and a restriction on how far from the floor the bottom of the window can be (believe it is 42").
