We found a great deal on a forclosed home on Zillow, but when we went to look, it turned out that the house was purchased in a "Pre-foreclosed" position a month prior. What is the difference and how do we find pre-forclosed homes in a certain area? Thanks.

If you want to try this yourself, there is a website that lists preforeclosure homes It does not give you the exact street addresss, but you can talk to a realtor who can find out. Pre-foreclosure is the period of ime after the notice of default has been issued (about 60 days), but before the foreclosure has closed.

Hello,The foreclosures are listed in the Multiple Listing Service just like all other listed homes...except that they sometimes are not updated with the current status. Mostly because the listing realtor is at the mercy of the bank's decisions, time, and status changes. Many times they go from active for sale, straight to sold in the reporting status.Also sites other than the MLS are usually 24-48 hours min behind on status changes. One of the reasons I make calls to check actual status before taking my clients out.Your best bet is to hire a great agent that will take the time to find the deals.
