Quite a few options exist that may help determine the value of your home today. Although Zillow's "Zestimate" may give you a broad estimate of values in your area, I suggest familiarizing yourself with Past Sales and Current Listings in the area (Zillow.com has tools for this). I find redfin.com to be very helpful in this regard. Becoming comfortable with these figures will help with the next step:
Ask several local Real Estate Agents (REA) to provide some comparables and their own opinion of value. Having become familiar yourself with values in the area, you will be able to weed out those REAs that are feeding you fluff.
Finally, consider engaging an appraiser for an assessment of value.
In the end, your home is only worth (from a purely monetary perspective) what a Buyer is willing to pay - and that can be difficult to predict.
